In a Sweeping Feat of Inhuman Congruity, I Tie Together a Huge Pile of Loose Ends Into a Gordian Knot of Plotdom
AUTHOR: Irwin
Synopsis
So the Baron of Halak is dead. And his killer(s) are Nike Gauss, Katje van Hagenkaard and Joel Diablo. Pandemonium ensues. Jon Krigsley finds himself seperated from the others and encounters Klot. The former Silberwyrmritter tries to persuade Jon to join their cause and serve DAMOCLES and Moebius, then uses a captured Sister Assumpta as collateral. Jon refuses pledging allegiance to Vincit Omnibus. At the same moment, Vinny, Windsong de Lanseau, Oscar Angeles and Wernher Gauss appear to defeat Klot and his minions and rescue Assumpta.
Assumpta tells Oscar that the remains of the SOAKID and its counterparts (which make up the Council of the Five Wounds) have collapsed. Some have joined Klot to serve DAMOCLES. Others who have remained loyal were killed or exiled. As the heroes beat a hasty retreat, Klot's dead body mends itself thanks to the power of DAMOCLES.
The Miriam Nanobots make mention to Jon of not feeling well, not since they came in contact with Joel, and enter a kind of sleep mode in which they encounter the Woman Clothed with the Sun and The Red Dragon. Both demand Miriam serve them. Miriam chooses to serve the King, Vinny, in a fashion similar to what Jon told Klot earlier. The Miriam Nanobots then learn that having come in contact with Joel, they are slowly dying.
But before they can tell Jon, the ship our heroes are flying in gets trapped in a black hole. With little energy to successfully escape the singularity, Vinny taps into the power of the 14MPOITU to give the ship a sudden rush of additional power, allowing Gauss to attempt a Rimmer Spin. Instead of slingshotting out, the ship passes right through it. On the otherside is the homeplanet of the Hikari-No.
After a brief cold interrogation, the occupants are granted a warm welcome by Dumla of the dokkalfar, who identifies Vinny as Fendegist and Jon as Jorgen, both their ancestors, both brothers. At the same time, Miriam tells Jon she is dying and the group requests the help of the technologically advanced Hikari-No.
The group travel into the caverns below the planet's surface. It is here we learn that the Hikari-No are actually the Dokkalfar, or dark elves, Fae in origin, and they have existed on this remote planet, hidden by the faux black hole, gathering dangerous technologies and texts (like the Dht'n'k'lz documents), to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands.
The group is introduced to one of the Lorekeepers, Gerda, and they all set about learning how to remove the 14MPOITU from Vinny while Oscar tries to save Miriam. When it's discovered that the object can only be removed by merging with a Messiah of no true body, born of no mortal mother and father and not a carbon-based life form, Vinny immediately has Oscar wire him up to Jon and the Miriam Nanobots merge with the 14MPOITU which then withdraws itself from Vinny.
Windsong is finally reunited with her sister, Skysong de Lanseau, just as the 14MPOITU begans to grow and take on the shape of a young girl, becoming Miriam Krigsley. And they all lived happily ever after...
... or did they?
