Synopsis

Before our five heroes can escape the Wendauerian battle cruiser, they are stopped by Joel Diablo and... Moebius? In the process of escaping, Jon Krigsley is nicked by a bullet, of which includes a nanovirus designed to kill the infected target over a period no longer than 42 hours. The group is forced to seek out a Microwave Nanoreprogrammer so Oscar Angeles can program the nanobots in Jon's system so they don't kill him.

Wernher Gauss pilots the ship to the market space-city of Hungarden, where a secret Wendauer installation is located, and undoubtedly, a microwave nanoreprogrammer. No sooner have they landed than they are again captured by the mobster boss of Hungarden and good old Mickey the Cod. To everyone's suprise, they are rescued(?) by Nike Gauss, Wernher's sister, a ninja and a total sexual deviant.

Our heroes hatch a plan to infiltrate the Wendauerian base by having Gauss dress as a girl as the soldiers are usually in need of a little entertainment. While Oscar attempts to reprogram the nanovirus, Joel suddenly appears with Nike, who may or may not have betrayed the others.

Over the course of this period of time, Jon and the reprogrammed nanobots take on a host/symbiote relationship, giving Jon super strength and invulnerability. Oscar then uses the nanoreprogrammer to teleport them out of the base. There is a brief interlude as our heroes regroup to plan their next move and Windsong suddenly takes off in a hurry. The chapter ends with the introduction of a new character.

Important Events

• Here, we learn that Moebius is a timestreamer, which explains his presence after being killed in Chapter 4. It is theoretically possible his death in Chapter 4 was also faked through his magic powers, as the conversation never directly referes to his death being an absolute death.
• We also learn that Windsong and Gauss were arranged to be married at one time.
• Mickey the Cod Kill Count - 3 - Cleanly beheaded by Nike Gauss' whirling blades.
• Joel has seemingly been promoted here, from a Commander position to Governor, although it is possible he held a gubernatorial position.
• This is an important chapter for Jon, who gains unusual strength and healing abilites from the benign nanobots in his system. These will come to be known as the Miriam Nanobots.
• Even with the metal arm, the 14MPOITU is able to create a type of shield to protect Vinny and Windsong during the firefight in the Wendauerian base.
