In Fluidology, the term Humanoid typically refers to the average human: ape-like beings capable of bipedal locomotion, leaving their upper limbs free to manipulate objects. This broad definition assumes many things, such as the average Humanoid having two eyes, two ears, a nose, a mouth, four appendages (two legs, two arms) and a fleshy exterior with an interior skeletal system.
The similarities end here. Many different races throughout the universe have different combinations of Humanoid traits, but that does not necessarily make them Humanoid by design.
As a general rule of thumb, your average Humanoid, compared to other races, is weak, not very bright, and has a tendency to build things that explode with malicious intent. Interspecies breeding has been known to generate offspring with Humanoid traits that are far more advanced than their Humanoid cousins, but weaker than their alien brethern.
Although Earth is considered by some to be the Humanoid homeworld, they do inhabit other planets throughout the galaxy and have been known to migrate. Coincidently, Earth is also the homeworld for a few other races that were unknown to the Humanoids because they were too wrapped up in themselves to notice.
