The insectoid race comes in various shapes and sizes, as most bugs often do. They are generally intelligent and semi-intelligent bugs or bug-like creatures.
There is an arguement as to the nature of the insectoid race as there are literaly zillions of insects all over the galaxy and beyond and it's not always simple to classify a regular bug as an insectoid.
In Fluidology, the story refers to John Theodore Roach a number of times. John, who for all intents and purposes, appears as a slightly larger than normal cockroach. According to the definition of insectoid, John falls into this classification.
