The Book of Fluids

Motabu Virus

Page history last edited by Joe 1 mo ago

An advanced form of the Ebola virus. Potentially lethal and encompasses a range of symptoms including vomiting, diarrhea, general body pain, internal and external bleeding, and fever. Mortality rates are generally high, ranging from 50% - 90%, with the cause of death usually due to hypovolemic shock or organ failure. The virus is transmitted by direct contact with infected body fluids, or to a lesser extent, skin or mucus membrane contact. There is very limited evidence for airborne transmission in reported epidemics.

The most violent outbreak was recorded a decade before the Republican Spasm, decimating a large population of Mulaghra Prime. Kara's mother was one of its victims.
