A (I'm sure deliberately) confusing piece of work written by one Malaclypse the Younger, describing the pseudo-worship of 'Eris', the Greek Goddess of Discord, and suggesting the pursuit of alchemical balance by the marrying of discord and organisation within one’s soul by recognising that they are two sides of the same apple, as it were...

 

Apologies. In the tale, Eris throws an apple among the goddesses Athene (wisdom), Hera (marriage, childbirth and womanhood) and Aphrodite (love) marked 'Kallistos' meaning 'to the fairest'. There was a big argument over whose it was, and they unwisely picked Paris, son of the king of Troy to decide. Aphrodite plays dirty, and bribed him with Helen of Sparta. Unfortunately, she was already married to Menelaus. The Trojan war ensued...

 

Oh Goddess--look, if you want me to recount Homer’s Iliad and Oddyssey, just ask, but I’m not relating the entire Trojan War here.
