Wernher Gauss
ALIAS: Gauss, Crown Prince, Archduke
Wernher Gauss is part of the quartet that make up the main heroes in The Book of Fluids. He is the Dragon prince of the Empire of Gamezoha with a destiny darker than he can bear.
Characteristics
Gauss, as he is commonly referred to by his last name, is noted for his youthful and slightly feminine appearance, his grayish-white hair and diamond-like eyes, traits common of the pure-blooded Silver Imperial dragons. As a dragon, he has a number of magical traits, including the ability to shift from a humanoid form to a dragon form in various stages, each allowing more strength, magic or healing abilities.
Gauss is practically a deity unto his people, revered for his excellence in many traits (referred to as The Seven S's), but because of this, he suffers from a mental and emotional anguish in regards to the nonsensical nature of the universe. He is sometimes pessimistic and ill-tempered, and frequently ego-centric.
Background
Book I
In Chapter 4, Gauss is usurped from the Empire by Moebius during his Eighteenth Trial and vows to reclaim the throne. We also learn of his powerful love for Krystal Halak.
Book II
Gauss returns to Gamezoha to reclaim the Empire from Joel Diablo. After doing so through the Coronation Tour, his actions become controlled by Moebius which leads to the launching of the Seventh Reich Campaign. He eventually breaks free of Moebius' control and relenquishes control of the empire to his sister, Nike Gauss, becoming an archduke.
Book III
In Chapter 29, Gauss meets his end at the hands of Klot, but it is never fully explained how he is killed.
Additional Facts
Formerly arranged to marry Windsong de Lanseau of the Kingdom of Wendauer, Gauss is later wed to Nicolette Ticine of the Gamezohan House Ticine.
Jon Krigsley saves Gauss' life in Chapter 9. In return, Gauss must grant Jon one wish.
In Chapter 20, Gauss' face is scarred by Pyrite Halak who holds a personal grudge against him for Krystal's death. Although he could heal the scar, Gauss chooses not to as a reminder.
Wernher does not habitually cross dress.
